It’s a rare scene. At least in my country.
While I was slurping my noodles at a coffee shop, I saw a mother with 4 children. The eldest one is about 12 years old and the youngest is about 4.
She had to take care of not one but 4 kids by herself – without a maid. It’s no easy task.
“Impressive,” I thought silently.
The Supermom was buying ice-cream for the children. You can tell the excitement on the children’s faces.
This is when the ugly episode unfolded right in front of my eyes.
The kids, one after another, just threw the wrappers right on the floor – after unwrapping the icy, cool ice-cream.
At first, I thought the Supermom didn’t care about the behavior of her children. But in fact, when she saw what was happening, she asked the children to pick up the thrash.
The advice fell on deaf ears.
Surprisingly, the Supermom is not very firm after all. After one attempt (just one!), she gave up and ignored the litter created by her kids.
Only then did I realize she is a Supermom who is without power. It’s like a toothless tiger. The kids under her care do not listen to her. Worse, she does nothing to remedy and get back her power.
Sad but true, this is not an isolated case. I have seen many parents who have handed the power to children. And let the kids manipulate them left, right, and center.
You must let the kids know you are in charge – not them. Otherwise, things will only get worse. Imagine what would happen to the kids of Supermom if things left unchecked. Now, it might only about rubbish throwing. Next thing could be stealing, lying, or even killing. We don’t know but it’s possible.
